Notes:
James Entwisle Jr (1827-1892)3 ran a drugstore in Alexandria.
Old advertisements in the Alexandria Gazette show his address to be "Opposite the new
Odd Fellows Hall" in 1847, then "Opposite Sarepta Hall" from 1848-1855, and at 94 King
Street starting in 1855. The 1885 Sanborn Fire map for Alexandria shows that 94 King
Street was the 3rd building from east to west, between Royal & Pitt Streets. I beleive
that Sarepta Hall was on this same block, so it may have been that Entwisle was at the
same building the whole time, and it was just the description of his address that was
changing. That's definitely true for the address change between 1887 and 1888, when
the King Street addresses were changed, so 94 King Street in 1887 became 404 King
Street in 1888.
John Wellington Entwistle (1871-1912)4 also ran a drugstore in Alexandria.
John was James Jr.'s nephew, the son of John R. Entwisle (James Jr.s
brother)5. John W. Entwisle died of a Morphine overdose6.
John's drugstore was at a different address from James Jr.s, so I don't know
if John took over James Jrs store & moved it, or if he just started a new drug
store all on his own.
