Aldhizer's

Company Names, addresses, dates:
  Aldhizer's Drug Store, Broadway VA
  Aldhizer & Son, Broadway VA

Notes:
George S. Aldhizer (1856-1941)1 passed his State Board of Pharmacy exam in 18862.
I've seen newspaper mentions of a retail drugstore named "MAY & ALDHIZER" in Lipscomb, Virginia in 1889 and 18903, but I don't know if that was George S. Aldhizer, or someone else who had the same last name. I thinks "Lipscomb VA" was between Stuarts Draft and Lyndhurst VA, about 40 miles from Broadway VA.
The earliest reference I found to Aldhizer's Drug Store in Broadway was an ad in an 1891 newspaper4.

The earliest reference I found to "Aldhizer & Son" in Broadway VA was in a 1916 Newspaper5. The 1910 Census listed 3 sons living with George: Theo C. Aldhizer (age 27), Stuart G. Aldhizer (age 16), and George R. Aldhizer (age 13). Theo died in 1916, and George R. would have been only 19 years old in 1916, so I suspect the "& Son" was the middle son Stuart. Stuart Geil Aldhizer (1894-1961)6 was listed as a Superintendent of a Hospital in the 1940 US Census, so it would make sense that he had worked in the pharmacy business.
