John H. Young, MD

Company Names, addresses, dates:
John H. Young, MD, Burkeville VA

Notes:
Dr. John Howard Young (1859-1930)1 had a pharmacy in Burkeville VA.
The 1880 US Census listed him as a student. A newspaper article from 8-Aug-1922 referred to him with the title of Doctor, so I presume he had graduated by that time2. I suspect he started his practice and opened his drugstore about that time, but I couldn't find anything to confirm that.
In 1901 he took out an ad for a "young man with experience in the drug business"3.
The US census from 1900,1910,1920 and 1930 seem to alternate in referring to his occupation as physician and pharmacy proprietor. I suspect he was both a medical doctor and a pharmacy proprietor during those years. The bottle below has a patent date of 1888 on the bottom, which indicates it was likely made within a few years of 1888.
