Notes:
Samuel C. Chancellor (1859-1922)2 was listed as a drug-store clerk, living in Richmond VA in 1891.3
I don't have access to any Charlottesville city directories before 1902, so sometime between 1891 and 1902, he came to Charlottesville and started his own drug store, located somewhere on the UVA campus.1
The 1914 Charlottesville city directory doesn't list Chancellor's drug store, and in the residential section it lists Samuel as the secretary/treasurer of the Piedmont Supply Co. But by 1916 he was back in the drug store business again. I'm not sure why his drug store business temporarily stalled or if the city directory just failed to list the drug store in 1914 for some reason.

Samuel passed away in 1922 at his drug store4. But his drug store continued until at least 19675.
Lester L. Cooper (1901-1969)6 is listed in city directories as the president/manager of the S.C. Chancellor drug store in the years after Chancellor passed away. I don't know why he decided to keep the Chancellor name for the drug store.
