John D. Bear

Company Names, addresses, dates: 1
John D. Bear, Elkton VA (c.1894-c.1922)
  Bear's Emulsion
Notes:
John Decatur Bear (b.1885, d.1914)2 was a druggist in Elkton VA.
Although he died in 1914, it seems someone carried on his business, as I see advertisements for Bear's Emulsion (with the name John D. Bear from Elkton VA) as late as 1922. Some of the ads featured a bear stirring a mortar & pestle, and wearing a belt that said "EMULSION"3. This is the same graphic as what is embosed on two of the bottles below, except the belt does not say "EMULSION" on the embossed bottles.

Bottles:

bear_02 This is a clear 5.3" (3 oz) mouth-blown bottle embossed:
horizontal on neck: 3iii
vertical: (bear stirring a mortar & pestle) John D. Bear / PHARMACIST / ELKTON, VA.
bear_04 This bottle is similar to the one above, but it's larger. It's a clear 9.2" mouth-blown bottle embossed:
horizontal on neck: 3iii
vertical: (bear stirring a mortar & pestle) John D. Bear / PHARMACIST / ELKTON, VA.

It didn't look good with back-lighting, so I photographed it with front-lighting only.
bear_01 This is a Sun-colored Amethyst (SCA) colored, 3.2" mouth-blown bottle embossed:
vertical: John D Bear / PHARMACIST / ELKTON, VA.

Other Items:
bear_05 This is a reproduction post card that depicts the interior of John Bear's Drug Store. I've seen an original card like this one, and it was postmarked 1913, so the image came from on or before that year.
The card says:
bottom center: John D. Bear's Drug Store, Elkton, Va.
