Notes:
The earliest ad I found for the Floyd Pharmacy was from 1936. It listed J.W. Hope as the owner.1.

I don't know how long Hope was the owner, but in 1953 the Stuart Pharmacy was purchased from the current owner at that time, J. A. Vernon. It was purchased by George W. Hudson, a pharmacist from Stuart VA. It was to be run by Hudson's son, Richard Hudson, and was to be named "Hudson's Drug Store No. 2". 2

That didn't seem to last long, as in 1955 it was announced that Hudson's Drug Store was purchased by George E. Surber, and that it was to once again be called the Floyd Pharmacy.3

In 1957, there was a "Grand Opening Event" announced, as the drugstore was re-opening in a new building4.
The new building was at 709 East Main Street. As of now (Dec 2023) there is still a drugstore at that location, although it appears to be a CVS pharmacy. I don't know when it changed to CVS, but I've seen more recent references to that building that still called it the Floyd Pharmacy.
