Notes:
Dr. Ferris Tower Cassiday (1879-1945)5
was a physician and drugstore owner in Fredericksburg Va.
He's listed in Richmond city directories from 1899-1907, first working at
various drug stores including
J.M. Blanks,
then working as a physician.
In 1908 he's listed as having a drugstore in Fredericksburg VA1.
In 1909 he announces he's building a new "up to date drug store" at the
corner of Main and Charlotte Streets.2
The address of the new store was 622 Main Street.
I believe "Main Street" refers to modern day Caroline Street.
In 1914, he announces that he wants to sell his drug store for $30006.
I couldn't find any evidence that he actually sold it though, as the Cassiday's
Drug Store continues to be listed as a drug store at 622 Main Street in directories
and newspaper ads after that date.
Exactly when his drug store closed for good is something I couldn't find.
The last mention I could find for the Cassiday's drug store was in 19283,
however he continues to be listed as a physician up until his death in 1945.
Also, a few months after his death, there is a newspaper mention that the
stock and fixtures of his drug store were for sale, including things like a
soda fountain and prescription counter4, so it's possible his drug
store lasted up until that date.
