Honaker Pharmacy
Company Names, addresses, dates:
  Honaker Pharmacy, Honaker VA (ca.1910-1982)1,2
Notes:
The earliest reference I could find to the Honaker Pharmacy was an entry in
the 1910 edition of the Era Druggists, a publication which lists drug stores
in the USA.1
I don't know who started the pharmacy. The earliest reference I could find
to a proprietor was for
James G. Albert (1899-1986), who operated the pharmacy for 42 years
between 1925 and 1967.3
In later years, it was operated by
Charles C. Bundy (1939-1996),
who operated the pharmacy for 16 years. 4
The last newspaper ad I could find for the pharmacy was in 1982, and a
newspaper article later that year mentioned that someone named Bob Taylor
bought out Mr. Bundy.2

This is a reprint post card that depicts the Honaker Pharmacy.
From comparing it to the modern photo below, it appears to be located at
398 S. Railroad Avenue. I can make out the words "Honaker Pharmacy"
on the window. Based on the cars in the photo, my very rough guess
is that the scene is from the 1930s.

This photo was snipped from Google in February 2025, and appears to be
the same scene that is depicted in the postcard above.
