Notes:
Charles Harris Lumsden (1848-1934)3 came to Lynchburg in 1868. He teamed up with Edward Chambers Hamner (1848-1932)4 in 1874 and opened the Lumsden and Hamner drug store. He was a graduate of the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy. He continued the Lumsden & Hamner drug store until 1927, when the business was sold.2
Apparently the store continued on with that same name until 1935, when it became the Walgreen Drug Co.1

Hamner took on a 2nd job about 1911, when he became the president of the Central Pharmacy in Lynchburg. He continued as president of that firm until about 1916.1,5

I found an advertisement saying that Lumsden & Hamner manufactured "May Apple Bitters"6, and another advertising "Hamner's Rhematic Remedy"7, so it seems they may have manufactured some medicines.
