New Market Pharmacy

Company Names, addresses, dates
New Market Pharmacy, New Market, VA (1950-2015) 1,2

Notes:
Holmes Randolph Grimm (1921-1966)3 and his wife Elizabeth Spotswood Parsons Grimm (1924-2008)4 opened the New Market Pharmacy on December 20, 1950. They were both graduates of the Medical College of Virginia, School of Pharmacy.1

Prior to that, Holmes had worked in a Peoples Drug in Alexandria, and the Patterson Drug company in Lynchburg. He was a Mason, and member of the Virginia Pharmacists Association. In 1948, Holmes bought the Hyde's Pharmacy at 508 Main Street in Clifton Forge VA. Holmes operated the new store, while his wife operated the New Market Pharmacy. 5

At some point, the New Market Pharmacy was taken over by Jack E. Richardson (1924-2008)7 and his wife Virginia. Grimm passed away in 19663, so it may have changed hands at that time. The earliest mention I found of the Richardsons owning the store is from 1985.7
Richardson owned the store until 1991.8

The store closed and merged with the Mt Jackson Pharmacy in 2015. Randy Fansler was the owner of both of those stores at the time.2
