The Allen Drug Store

Company Names, addresses, dates1:
Fred F. Allen Co., 2612 Washington Ave., Newport News, VA (1898-1899)
Fred F. Allen Co., 3003 Washington Ave., Newport News, VA (1900-1904)
Allen Drug Store, 2612 Washington Ave., Newport News, VA (1905)

Notes:
Fred F. Allen (b:1870)2 ran a drugstore in Newport News VA.
I suspect the "& Co." in his drug store name referred to his brother James, who was listed as a drug store clerk in the 1900 US Census, and passed away in 19053.
In 1899, Allen was elected president of the newly formed Newport News Druggist Assocation4.
In 1898 Allen put an ad in the newspaper encouraging customers to visit his soda fountain5. Apparently he took an interest in soda fountains, because in 1905, he accepted a position with the American Soda Fountain Company, and moved to Baltimore MD.3
