Notes:
John Jeter Turner (1880-1936)2 started a drugstore in Newport News, sometime between 1920 and 1923. Before that he ran a confectionary business at the same address, 4611 Huntington Avenue, whieh was also his home address. By 1931 he had opened a second store, this one at 301 Blair Avenue. 1

His son, Edward Purvis Turner (1904-1971)3 was a pharmacist, and later a manager of the original store. The original store closed about 1943, and the second about 1950. 1
