Notes:
Dr. Douglas Cornelius Cannon (1836-1910)3 was a Doctor & a druggist in Norfolk VA.
In his early years, his partner was John W. Smith (ca.1837-1891)4, but in 1868 Cannon took sole control of his drugstore business2.

The address changed from 210 to 420 Bute Street between 1896 and 1897. This was not a move, it was just a re-numbering of the street addresses (i.e. 210 became 420 in the renumbering scheme).

Douglas's son, John Randolf Cannon (1882-1959)5 was a pharmacist, and became a partner starting in 1908, and then took over the business after Douglas passed away. By 1930, John had left the drugstore business.1.

Bottles:
cannon_03 This is a clear 5.4" bottle embossed:
vertical: D.C. CANNON, M.D. / CHEMIST / ('CANNON' written inside a sheild) / 212 / BUTE STREET / NORFOLK
base: 3
I have very few drugstore bottles that say "CHEMIST", like this one does.
cannon_04 This is an amber 7.2" BIM bottle embossed:
front: DR. CANNON'S / PHYTO-LACCA / COMPOUND
left panel: P.C. CANNON & SON, NORFOLK, VA.
right panel: FOR RHEUMATISM
I'm relatively certain that the embossed initials "P.C." is a mistake, and it should be "D.C.", as I can find no evidence of a "P.C. Cannon & Son" in Norfolk.
cannon_02 This is a clear 3.5" bottle embossed:
vertical: CANNON'S / PHARMACY / ('CANNON' written inside a sheild) / 210 / BUTE STREET / NORFOLK / VA.
base: W T & CO / *
cannon_01 This is a clear 4.2" (badly cracked) bottle embossed:
vertical: D.C. CANNON MD / DRUGGIST / NORFOLK, VA.
base: W T & CO / *
