Notes:
William Rogers Martin (1859-1925)3 was listed in the 1889 Norfolk city directory as a drug clerk, working for the George P. Gatling drugstore.1

At some point he became a partner in that store, and in 1894, the partnership was ended, as Martin purchased Gatlings interest and the drugstore took on Martin's name.4

By 1896, Martin was also a partner in the Burrow, Martin & Co drugstore. John W. Burrow (1836-1896)5 passed away that same year, but the name "Burrow, Martin & Co" was kept, even when Martin became the president of that company. 1

Martin passed away in 1925, but the Martin's pharmacy continued on for a few more years without him, and the Burrow, Martin & co pharmacy continued until circa 1960.1
