Notes:
Albert Young Masters (1889-1971)4
was a pharmacist working for the
Ghent Hall Pharmacy
in the early 1920s.1
In 1928, he opened the Master's Pharmacy.2
The location was described as "Colley Avenue and Princess Anne Road",
but some of the subsequent mentions of the store referred to the address
as "749 W Princess Anne Road". I believe these are referring to the
same location, based on looking at the modern day intersection of
those 2 streets.
The city directories don't show the masters pharmacy at 749 W Princess
after 1954, but it does show up in 1960s newspapers, so I don't know
if it went away and came back, or if it just wasn't listed in the
city directories in the later years.
Luther Daniel Masters (1908-1994)5
was Albert's younger brother, and he shows up as working in the
Master's Pharmacy first as a clerk in 1933 & 34, then as a "br mgr"
(presumably Branch Manager) in 1935 & 38. And it looks like he
had his own separate store under the name "L D Masters" in 1956. 1
His obituary says that he was a co-owner of the Master's Pharmacy.6
