Notes:
Eugene Carlisle Tatem (1893-1979)2 owned a drugstore in Norfolk.
He tried to purchase B. Turner's confectionary store when he was 8 years old (in 1901). Ten years later at age 18, he got a loan and with his older brother James Albert Tatem Sr (1889-1971)3, he successfully purchased the confectionary. 4
It was known as the Tatem Brothers Confectionary, and was listed in city directories from 1912-1919 at 534 Park Avenue.

The Tatem's Pharmacy first appears in city directories in 1919, located across the street at 535 Park Avenue. That location was formerly the home of Taylor's Pharmacy. It continued as Tatem's Pharmacy at that address until at least 19521.

Tatem owned as many as 5 drustores at one time, and continued working at them until at least 1961.4
