Notes:
George Washington Howe (1864-1891)2 had a short-lived career as a drugstore owner in Portsmouth.

The 1883 Portsmouth city directory listed him as a drug clerk, working for the Bilisoly & Langhorne drug store. He shows up as owning his own drug store in the 1886-1890 city directories, with 2 store locations in the 1889 directory. 1
But he fell ill, and in January of 1891 he died.3

In subsequent years, his store at 314 High Street was listed in city directories as being owned by Augustus L. Bilisoly. 1
