Notes:
William Henry Briggs was a Confederate Captain who started a school and a pharmacy in Emporia
VA after the civil war. Two of his sons, Andrew Gesner Briggs and Albert Sidney Briggs moved
to Richmond and started a drugstore on the corner of Grove and Harrison Avenues.2
