This is a 9" x 5.5" letter from 1904. My attempt to transcribe it is:

letter: South Boston, VA., Sept 15th 1904 / W.D. Walker Esq / Farmville Va / My dear Sir- /
I enlose you here with a deed from myself & wife conveying to you the Cumberland property of 112 1/2 acres
which was sold to me by M. L. Blanton. I also enclose a deed of trust securing to me the balance of the
unpaid purchase money of this same property. the selection of the trustee is left to you, the blanks left
vacant in Trust Deed are for you to fill out. I enclose also a letter from B. W. Leigh the president of
the Bank of Halifax in reference to this debt. I owe the Bank of Halifax $14735 secured
by the collateral, and I want to insure the loan to the full amount //
of your indebtedness to me and to do this Mr. Leigh suggested the course of my deeding the property to you
and taking a purchase money ?? to secure the balance. The amount of $4814 sent me
on Feb 29 1904 was not turned over to the bank, as I needed the money as I wrote you and they were fully
protected by personal endorsation as well as by your security. Kindly favor me with as prompt reply as
posible with kindes
