Notes:
Thomas Hogshead (1868-1938)7 was working for the
P.T. Allen
Drug store, and in 1891, he teamed up with Allen to form the Allen & Hogshead
drugstore.2
In 1892, the partnership was disolved, and Hogshead teamed up with J. Frank Clemmer,
with the new firm being called Thomas Hogshead & Co.3
In 1894 Charles P. Hanger took a position with the firm8, and in 1895
he became a full partner, with firm being called "Hogshead, Hanger & Co.".4
That lasted until 1900, at which time Hogshead dropped Hanger, and teamed up with
his brother,
Harry Hogshead,
with the new firm called "Hogshead Brothers & Co.".5
That only lasted until 1903, at which time Harry went on to start his own drug store, and
Thomas became the sole proprietor of the Thomas Hogshead pharmacy.6
One of the bottles below is embossed with "THOMAS HOGSHEAD'S FAMILY LINIMENT".
I see various newspaper mentions for that product between 1893-1896.
The ads describe it as "for man and beast", and "for internal or external use".
The ads also claim it cures grippe, and cures all pain.

This is postcard depicting Hogshead's Drug Store (on the left). It is postmarked 1931.

I got this picture from Google Maps in September 2013. Near as I can tell, this is the same building (on the
left) as depicted in the postcard above. It currently houses an architect company, and the address is
11 E Beverly Street (so presumably that was the address of Hogshead's drug store).
