Bicksler's Dairy

Company Names, addresses, dates:
  Bicksler's Dairy, Herndon, VA (c.1932-1942) 3

Notes:
Eugene Phillip Bicksler was born 1908 in Herndon VA1. The 1940 Census lists him and his wife Ida living on Grace Steet in Herndon as farmers in the "Dairy Farm" industry.
In 1942, Eugene P. Bicksler requested a milk price increase from the Virginia State Milk Commission, stating that increased costs for feed & other supplies were preventing him from making a profit. Wilson Smith, the only other licensed dairyman in Herndon at the time, stated that he agreed with Bicksler.2
There is a 'Bicksler Lane' in Herndon VA. The real estate listing on a house at 651 Sprint Street (which is very close to Bicksler Lane) described that house as being the "Bicksler Dairy House". So it seems likely the dairy was in that neighborhood.
Effective June 1st, 1942, Bicksler sold his milk business and equipment to Mansfield Dairy3.

Bottles

bicksler_01 This is a 9.5" (1 quart) clear bottle embossed:
front shoulder in circle: SEALED / 48
round slug plate: BICKSLER'S DAIRY / GRADE / A / MILK / HERNDON, VA.
below slug plate: REGISTERED / BBC CO 48
rear shoulder in circle: B
base: 17 <(I)> 7
The markings on the base of the bottle are from the Owens-Illinois Glass Company, and the '7' on the right side probably indicates that the bottle was made in 1937.
