Bartholomay Brewing Co.

Company Names, addresses, dates1:
  Bartholomay Brewing Co, 308 11th Street NW (1889-1891) 2,3
Bartholomay Brewing Co, 1110 and 1112 C Street NW (1891-1894)

Notes:
This is the Washington DC branch of the Henry Bartholomay Brewing company in Rochester NY.
The earliest newspaper mention of this branch that I could find was from December of 1889 2.
They were originally at 308 11th Street NW, but in 1891, that building was condemmed to make way for a new post office. The building was described as having "tortuous concealed passages and other architectural freaks such as are found in medieval castles". 3
They moved to a building at 1110-1112 C Street NW1.

Bottles:
bartholomay_05 book # 66
This is a 9" aqua baltimore-loop blob top bottle embossed:
oval slug plate: BARTHOLOMAY BREWING Co. / 1110 & 1112 C. ST. N.W. / (picture of burning winged tire) / WASHINGTON, D.C.

It's the same as the one above, except that it's not a baltimore-loop blob.

It's the same as the one above, except that it's embossed in an oval pattern, not a slug plate.

Other Items:
bartholomay_03 This is an advertisement from a Washington DC 1892 New National Theater Programme. It depicts the DC branch of the Bartholomay Brew Co at 1110-1112 C Street NW. Below the picture, it says:
LEADING BRANDS: / Apollo, Bohemian, Bavarian, and Stock Lager. / Our beers are guaranteed pure and of six / months maturity. Delivered in Cases of Two / Dozen Pints to any part of the city. / WASHINGTON BRANCH: / Telephone 441. 1110-1112 C Street N.W. / CHARLES L. BEATTY, Manager.
bartholomay_07a This appears to be a form letter, as it doesn't seem to be addressed to anyone in particular. It's from 1891, and it says:
Letter Heading: OFFICE OF / Bartholomay Brewing Co., / WASHINGTON BRANCH, / Nos. 1110 and 1112 C STREET N.W. / GEO. C. SUORO, Supperinendent       C.L. BEATTY, Manager
Letter Content: Washington, D.C., 1891 / SPECIAL NOTICE TO THE BOTTLED BEER TRADE / In order to supply a long-felt want among our customers, where strong competition exists, we are now putting up for Trade for export shipment, all our Bottled Beers in two grades of bottles, the prices for which we think will attract your attention ...

The "GEO. C. SUORO, Superintendent" is crossed out, so I assume he had recently left the company.
bartholomay_07b This is the back of the letter depicted above. It's hard to read, but the heading says "List of checks received", and the dates start at March 11, 1892.
