Coca Cola Bottling Works, 5401 Seminary Rd, Alexandria VA (1962-present)
Notes:
They apparently had a Washington DC branch. They were at 400 7th Steet
SW for 34 years. Later they had a branch in Alexandria - our bottle club used
to meet there for club meetings in the 1970s, but that was before I was
a member.
The Washington Coca Cola Bottling Company also had branches that were just outside
of Washington DC, in both Silver Spring and Capitol Heights Maryland. These included:2
  1110 East-West Hwy, Silver Spring MD (1944-1966)
1710 Elton Road, Silver Spring MD (1967-present)
7350 Ritchie Road, Capitol Heights MD (1957-1966)
51 Ritchie Road, Capitol Heights MD (1967-1971)
500 Dunmore Place, Capitol Heights MD (1972-present)
During some of the years of operation, these plants produced bottles that were
marked with "WASHINGTON COCA COLA BOTTLING CO", however I try not to include those bottles
in my collection.

WKS.   rectangular slug plate: WASHINGTON, D.C.   back: TRADE MARK / REGISTERED   base (left bottle): 1502   base (right bottle): AGW / 114 The markings on the base are different, indicating they were made by different glass companies. That would explain why they're slightly different (the embossing is lower on the shoulder on the right bottle). |
