Eagle Bottling Co
Company Names, addresses, dates1:
Eagle Bottling Co, 1541 5th Street NW (1921-1939)
Notes:
Wolf Rosett (c.1877-1960) was born in Poland. He came to America about 1903,
and moved to Washington DC about 19202.
He started the Eagle Bottling Company with Ellis Duke. He and Duke got off
to a rocky start, because in 1921 they were each fined $25 for violating the
pure food and drugs act, because their raspberry soda contained coal tar
coloring instead of raspberries3.
Later that year, Duke & Rosett parted ways4. Rosett kept the Eagle Bottling
Company, and Duke went on to form
Dukes Bottling Works .
Rosett continued to run the Eagle Bottling Company until he retired, about 1939.
I've seen other Eagle Bottling Companies, such as one in Rhode Island, but
I haven't found any evidence that they're connected to this one.
