William H. Ryan is listed in DC directories under Saloons and Restaurants
on and off from 1878 to 1913. He's listed as a bottler in the 1887 directory. The 1880
census lists 45-year-old James Ryan at 221 3rd Streen SW with an occupation
of Restaurant keeper.
I can't find any directory listings for "Wm & J. Ryan", which is embossed on one
of the bottles below. The 1880 census entry mentioned above lists a 20 year old son
who's also named William Ryan, and a 20 year old nephew named James Ryan.
It's possible that this James Ryan is the "J." embossed on the bottle.
The directories list a Saloon owned by James Ryan at 331 C Street SW from 1894 to 1905,
which might be that same James.
