Notes:
W. Lewis Milburn started a drugstore in 1856, at modern-day address 631 King Street4.

Samuel H. Lunt (1846-1925)9 took over that drugstore in 18692.

In October 1877, Samuel sold his drugstore to his brother John D. H. Lunt (1852-1905)10, who partnered with William K. Davidson (ca.1851-1914)11,12, under the name "Lunt & Davidson".5 In January 1881, John bought out his partner and took sole control of the drug store6.

In June 1892, John Lunt partnered with Ernest L. Allen renaming the drugstore "Lunt & Allen". Allen had been the sole owner of a drugstore on King & Pitt Streets, but he sold that store to Edgar Warfield . 7
In 1894, John Lunt withdrew from the partnership, leaving Ernest Allen as the sole owner of the drug store 8.

In 1919, the drugstore changed hands again, this time going to John E. W. Timberman. Timberman had been a partner with Ernest Allen for several years.
It continued to be called Timberman's drug store until 200415, even though ownership changed hands in 1942 to Francis Xavier Nugent, and in 1973 to F.H. Earley4. For more information, see Ernest L. Allen.

Getting back to Samuel Lunt, after he sold the store to his brother, in 1882 he took over a new store at the corner of King and Fairfax Streets13. The address was 51 King Street, which later got renumbered to 301 King Street. He was there until 1888, at which time he sold the store to Messrs Broadus & Smith14. In later years he was a real-estate agent1.

1 City directories for Alexandria VA, varous years from 1871-1959
2 Various Virginia State directories including issues of the Virginia Pharmacist newsletter for various years
3 Some directory entries said things like: "Corner King and Washington Streets". The NE corner of this intersection was originally 163 King Street, and in the 1880s was renumbered to 631 King Street. The NW corner of this intersection was originally 165 King Street, and in the 1880s was renumbered to 701 King Street. I've used the street numbers to make it easier to read, rather than try to preserve the "NE corner King and Washington Streets" nomenclature used in the directories.
