Halls Drug Store

Company Names, addresses, dates:
Halls Drug Store, Fredericksburg VA (1791-1906) 1

Notes:
The Halls Drugstore was run by the Hall family from 1791 to 1906.

Dr. Elisha Hall (1752-1814)2 started the Hall Drug store in Fredericksburg in 1791. He was the private physician to Martha Washington (George Washington's mother).

John Byrd Hall (1787-1862)3, a son of Elisha Hall, took over his father's drug store. John fought in the war of 1812.

Horace Byrd Hall (1824-1913)4, a son of John Hall, took over his father's drug store. He ran the store with his 2 brothers, Robert R. Hall and Marshall Carter Hall5. I've seen indications that the drug store may have been called "J.B. Hall's Sons" for a time.

The store was sold to Dr. H.H. Forline of Chicago in June of 19061. It may have still been called Hall's drug store after that, but it was sold again in 1907, this time to Dr. W.L. Bond of Savannah GA6. Bond ran the Bond Drug Store in Fredericksburg at the corner of Commerce & Main Streets.
