Notes:
Virginia Ann Carmines (1913-1988)3 was the first female pharmacist in Virginia. She graduated from the Medical College of Virginia in 1935, and that same year purchased a pharmacy next door to her Father's clothing store. She ran the Carmines Pharmacy until she retired in 1967.1

Her pharmacy at 22 West Queen Street was originally started by G.G. Congdon in 1903. 4

Other Items:
carmine_02 This is a photo of Virginia Carmines from the 1935 Yearbook for the Medical College of Virginia in Richmond.
carmine_03 This is a post card showing Queen Street in Hampton VA. I beleive the Carmines Pharmacy is shown in the building behind the post office truck, with the red sign that says the word "DRUGS" downward vertically, although that sign is hard to read.
