Notes:
George Gardner Congdon (1871-1947)2 was a druggist.
His first drug store was the Ideal Pharmacy in Newport News in the early 1890s.
He moved to Hampton and opened the Congdon Pharmacy on Queen Street, as well as the
Bellamy Pharmacy
on King Street. He also started 2 pharmacies in nearby Phoebus VA, one named the
Congdon Pharmacy
and the other named the
Buck Roe Pharmacy .

His pharmacy at 22 Queen Street was referred to as:
"Garber's Pharmacy (trading as G.G. Congdon Co Inc)" in city directories between
1930 and 19351.
I don't quite understand what that means, other than maybe the new name was
"Garber's Pharmacy" but they also wanted to keep the old name as well.
In any case, starting in 1935 it became
Carmine's Pharmacy,
with some references saying it was the "successor to G.G. Congdon"1.
