Notes:
Benjamin J. Edelen (c1867-1903) was a druggist3.
He was originally from Alexandria Virginia. An 1881 City directory from Alexandria listed a "Bennie" Edelen as a clerk working for the W.F. Creighton drug store, so he may have gotten his start in the drug store business when he was in Alexandria.
Somewhere around 1890 he opened the B.J. Edelen drug store in Ashland, Virginia, where he partnered with Dr. E.T. Rucker, who later moved to Manchester3. I don't know the exact years that drug store was in operation.
Somewhere around 1896 Edelen moved to Richmond, and was associated with the drug store of A.W.Nolting Jr , on East Broad Street3. Later he started the Edelen Pharmacy at 119 Canal street, which first shows up in city directories in 1898.
