Notes:
James R. Fisher (1829-1893)2 became a partner with the
Bennett & Beers
drug business at 125 Main Street in 18561.
In 1857, that copartnership was disolved due to the death of Charles Bennett, and
Fisher took over the business with new partner Edmund T. Winston3.
In 1860, that partnership ended and Fisher took on a new partner. The new business
was known as "Fisher & Shepherd". That business seems to have ended by 1862, possibly
due to the Civil War.
Fisher shows up in City directories again at a new location and without any business
partner in 1869, then he takes on a new partner in 1873 under the name "Fisher & Conrad".
That business ended in 1874.
Edmund T. Winston (1821-1872)4 had a grocery business before he had
teamed up with Fisher, and based on advertisements in Richmond newspapers, he continued
to run that business even after he parted ways with Fisher5.
