Shiners drug store

Company Names, addresses, dates:
Shiners drug store, 116 E. Main Street, Front Royal VA, (ca.1940-ca.1960s)
Bailey's Pharmacy, 116 E. Main Street, Front Royal VA (ca.1960s-ca.1970s)

Notes:
Ernest Thompson "Pete" Shiner (1903-1963)1 was the owner of Shiner's drug store. He is listed in the 1930 & 1940 census as a pharmacist in Front Royal. The earliest advertisement I could find for Shiner's drug store was in 19402.

In 1953, Shiner sold his drug store to William P. Bailey (1922-2002)3 and Eugene V. White. White had worked for McKim & Huffman in Luray as well as Miller's Drug Store in Winchester. Bailey had worked at Chancellor's Drug Store in Charlottesville, as well as People's Drug Store in Winchester, VA. They kept the Shiner name. 4

Sometime after Shiner passed away in 1963, the store name changed to "Bailey's Pharmacy", which is shown on a labeled bottle below from 1973.

Related Stuff:
shiner_02 This is the building at 116 E. Main street (photo taken June 2017). It looks old enough to be the same building that housed Shiner's drug store.
shiner_05 This 1944 label came off of a screw-top bottle. It was underneath another label, which is part of the reason why it is so beat-up looking. It says:
label: Shiner's / DRUG STORE / ... ' Dr. W.E.Lynn / ... 4/29/44 / 116 E. MAIN ST. FRONT ROYAL, VA.
