Notes:
Charles Greenwood Patterson (1885-1945)2 was a druggist in Lynchburg, VA. The 1909 Lynchburg city directory had him working as the secretary, treasurer, and general manager of the Binkley Drug Company in Lynchburg. The 1910 directory had him teamed up with a partner, listed as the Patterson & Mason Drug Company1
In 1911, he renamed that firm the "Patterson Drug Company Inc."3
in 1917 he opened a second store. Most years the city directories referred to his first store as the "Cut Rate Drug Store", and the second store as the "Uptown Drug Store". One of the bottles below has a label that lists his second store as "STORE NO 2".
Charles G. Patterson was listed as the president of the company in city directories up until his death in 1945. After that, his son Charles G. Patterson Jr. was the president of the company.

Chain of Drug Stores
Charles created a small chain of drugstores called "Patterson Drug Company" throughout Virginia and other states. Some of the Patterson bottles I have from other Virginia cities have similar labels which have a red stripe and say "STORE No x", so they are clearly part of that chain. Others don't have the red stripe or say "STORE No x" on them, but they have the same name (Patterson Drug Co), so they are likely part of the chain. I've also found some newspaper ads for Patterson Drug Co's in other cities. My list includes:
Patterson Drug Co, Store No 2: 7th & Main Streets, Lynchburg VA
Patterson Drug Co, Store No 6: Martinsville VA
Patterson Drug Co, Store No 7: Alta Vista VA
Patterson Drug Co, Store No 8: 238 Main Street, Farmville VA (1937-1953) 4
Patterson Drug Co Inc, 512 Main Street, Danville VA (ca.1917-ca.1924) 5,6
Patterson Drug Co Inc, 443 Main Street, Danville VA (ca.1929-ca.1960) 5,6
Patterson Drug Co Inc, 308 S. Jefferson Street, Roanoke VA
Patterson Drug Co, South Boston VA
